Chad S. Priest, RN, MSN, JD is Assistant Dean for Operations & Community Partnerships at the Indiana University School of Nursing. In this capacity, Chad works with internal and external stakeholders to promote and support the research, teaching and service mission of the IU School of Nursing. He also serves as Co-Director of the Disaster Medicine Fellowship in the Department of Emergency Medicine, IU School of Medicine.
His research and scholarship interests include healthcare emergency management, disaster nursing, international disaster response, community health practice, medical-legal partnerships, healthcare law and ethics and innovative pedagogies for the health professions. He is a frequent national speaker on issues related to healthcare futures, innovation in healthcare delivery and healthcare emergency management and crisis response. Chad teaches courses in community health nursing, bioethics and emergency management.
Prior to joining the IU School of Nursing, Chad was Chief Executive Officer of The MESH Coalition, an innovative public-private partnership that enables healthcare providers to effectively respond to emergency events and remain viable through recovery. Chad formerly practiced as an attorney at the law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels practicing public health and healthcare law in the Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. offices.
Chad served on active duty as an officer in the United States Air Force with the 89th Medical Group, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
Chad was past Chair of the Indiana University School of Nursing Board of Advisors and a founding board member of the Indiana Health Advocacy Coalition. He currently serves on the boards of the Spotlight on Nursing Foundation and Developing World Missions, Inc. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nursing Law.
