Shelley Bizila, MS, CIP

Shelley Bizila is the Clinical Research Compliance Officer at Indiana University. She has extensive experience developing and implementing new Institutional Review Boards at Indiana University and specializes in research risk management and quality assurance in human subjects research. She has lead the accreditation and reaccreditation team and process for Indiana University-Purdue University’s Human Research Protection Program which was awarded accreditation through the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) in March, 2005, June, 2008 and May 2010; Ms. Bizila became an AAHRPP site visitor in 2007. The accreditation process resulted in extraordinary changes to systems and processes for human subjects research review at Indiana University. As the co-chair of the subcommittee for the Indiana Health Industries Forum, she has been dedicated to exploring improvements in the cost, speed and overall process of IRBs statewide, an asset in such an endeavor as creating a transnational IRB. She has provided consultation to other academic medical centers and healthcare consortiums, both in the US and in Africa, including consultation regarding research compliance issues and process improvement programs to Moi University.
